Located in the Vargal village, Medak district, Wargal Saraswati Temple is at a distance of 48 km from the city of Hyderabad. Located against the backdrop of rock formations and a picturesque valley, this temple offers a refreshing natural setting along with an admirable architecture.
Also known as Sri Vidya Saraswati Temple, it was built by Sri Yamavaram Chandrashekhara Sharma. A group named Satya patam seva samethi had initiated the building process of this temple in the year of 1998. As the temple is two feet below the ground, if you wish to reach the main Shiva lingam, you are required to crawl and cover some of the distance.
On the hillock of Wargal, many other temples are also situated. Some of these are Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi Temple, Sri Vidya Saraswati temple, Lord Shanishwara Temple and Lord Shiva Temple. There are some a few Vishnava Temples, which are almost in ruins as of now. These two Vaishnaya Temples, which are surrounding the Wargal Saraswati Temple, are said to have been built during the reign of the Kakatiya rulers. A huge victory pillar is also located nearby. With a height of about 30 feet, it stands majestically amidst the captivating natural setting and impressive temple structure. It has statues of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lord Lakshmana and Goddesses Lakshmi along with snakes entangles over it.
Temple is open for darshan throughout the week. You can visit the temple on all days from 4 pm to 7.30 pm in evenings. On mornings, you can visit the temple from 06.00am to 12.30pm on Mondays until Thursdays. From Friday to Sunday, the morning timings are from 06.00am to 02.00pm. The best time to visit the temple is during Dussehra and on Chandi Homam , an special event of the temple.
