The state has produced three pioneers of Carnatic music namely Saint Tyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar, and Shyama Shastri. The first name that comes with the mention of dance forms in Hyderabad is of the Kuchipudi. Kuchipudi is a dance form which also uses some amount of acting which is accompanied by the Carnatic music. In this dance form, mostly mythological tales combined with Carnatic music are performed. Another form of dance in Hyderabad is named as Perini which is one of the dance forms of Lord Shiva. Originated as warrior dance, this dance is performed by a group of people consisting of only males.
