Located at the heart of the city, in Banjara Hills, Jagannath Temple is the Hyderabad’s replica of the original Puri Jagannath Temple, which is located in Orissa. This temple has been built in same style of Puri temple. However, the size of both the temple differs.
Dedicated to the Lord Krishna who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the main temple houses statues of Lord Jagannath with his brothers - Balabhadra (Balarama) and Subhadra. There are five small temples as well, each dedicated to one God. On the left of the entrance, there is a small temple of Lord Ganesha. In front, there is statue of Lord Shiva. Other small temples house the statues of Goddess Bimala, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati; Goddess Laxmi and Shri Hanuman. On one side, there is shrine of Navgraha as well. There is a dedicated priest for each of the deities.
Built over an area of 3000 sq. yard, its construction was completed in the year of 2009. To build Puri Jagannath Temple Hyderabad, an approximate of 600 ton of sandstone was brought from Orissa. The temple has been carved intricately; which was done by a close to 60 artisans. While, the inner part of the sanctum sanctorum is made up of plain brick wall which is separated by pillars and three entrance gates which are made up of sandstone. As you enter through the innermost gate, you can see carvings of all the nine incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The idols of main deities are also carved out from wood, which was brought from Orissa, similar to that of Puri temple.
With a height of 70 feet, the Shikra or the top of the temple is one of its major attractions. This can be seen in most of the Hyderabad’s Jagannath temple photos that you would find online. The temple showcase aesthetically designed interiors. The innermost gate of the temple has carvings of Lord Vishnu’s nine incarnations on it. The exterior of the temple also has carvings of men and women on its walls. These carvings are in some way similar to those of Khajuraho Temples.
Along with being a popular destination amongst devotees, this temple also attracts art lovers for its captivating architecture. Here the rituals are carried out in the same way as in original Puri Jagannath Temple. Similar way, annual Rath Yatra/ Chariot Festival is also organised in the Hyderabad’s Jagannath temple.

It is a nice place to visit. It’s exactly as same as the puri Jagannath temple. I was surprised to see its replica here in Hyderabad. It is beside Telangana Bhavan, its red structure can be seen from far itself. What I like the most about Hyderabad Jagannath temple is that it was very clean and spacious. There is podium kind of place outside the temple, where you can sit for some time.

Location of Jagannath temple Hyderabad is just perfect. It is near in the heat of Hyderabad, close to KBR national park, cine max, Telangana bhawan, etc. earlier to get autos too. Just by the road-side, you will see such a huge structure of temple, entire building is made of sandstone, which makes it even more beautiful.

I went with my friends to Jagannath Temple Hyderabad just a few days back. This temple is quite beautiful; it is completely built in red brick and sandstone. It is said that even the stone was brought from Orissa itself and artisans who carved these stones were also from Orissa. It is in every way a smaller version of popular Puri Jagannath Temple.

I had gone to Jagannath Swamy temple on my last visit to Hyderabad. I often go to Hyderabad so had seen other tourists places earlier. This temple is right in the center of city, very close to kbr park too. I had gone there without any planning. It was the time of sandhya aarti, entire atmosphere was pious. the best part is it is spacious even after having so many small temples and very well maintained.

If you have seen Puri Jagannath temple, you will notice how the Jagannath temple here is exactly same, but it is smaller though. It seems the sandstone and wood for God idols was also brought from Orissa, even the artisans who worked on it were from Orissa. The walls of temple are also painted with stories from Hindu sculptures. it is a beautiful temple, and nicely maintained.

I had taken my parents there. They loved it. There are many small temples but the main temple is in the centre on a raised platform, which was a little problem. They have to walk many stairs to get the darshan of main deity Jagannath Swamy. Overall it was nice experience we sat on the stairs for sometimes and then came back. There is good space for parking too.
